- Do you have to be Authorized to be a Marshal?
- No, but it is strongly encouraged.
- In an authorization one of the two signing marshals MUST be
authorized in the form in which the participant is qualifying.
- We are working on a marshal's training program for people who want
to be a marshal but have never been authorized.
- Where is my Marshal Card?
- Due to the huge expense on the Kingdom of mailing and maintaining
Marshal Cards we have decided not to issue marshal cards.
- Instead the on-line roster of marshals has been created so everyone
can check & maintain their marshal status.
- Is a "Madu" a legal weapon
- Yes. It is a short bladeless pole-arm.
- Can Swords have a tail spike?
- No. Only hafted weapons (1 or 2 handed) 7.5' and under may
have tailspikes.
- Are Members of the Chivalry automatically Marshals?
- No. You must be a member to be a marshal.
- In most cases Members of the Chivalry will be given a marshal's
warrant as long as they request one from the Earl Marshal and are
members of the SCA.
- Members of the Chivalry presenting membership cards, who are not
warranted marshals, will be allowed to perform field marshal duties
with the exception of authorizations.
- Can anyone be a "Line Marshal"?
- Only Warranted Marshals, Members of the Order of Chivalry, and
authorized participants are to be allowed onto a Live List.
- A "Live List" is defined as "the list after the begin signal (ie.
Lay On) has been announced."
- Anyone can call a hold.
- People can stand on the sidelines, hold a stick, and call themselves
"line marshals" and help enforce safety at the edge of the list.
However these people may not enter the list without first calling a
hold.
- Likewise Line Marshals may not perform inspections, authorizations,
or other marshallate duties.
- What is the difference between New Authorization and a Renewal
Authorization?
- New Authorization involves following the authorization procedures as
if the person were never authorized.
- Renewal authorization does not involve anything more than the
filling of the appropriate paperwork to keep participant current.
